Help with the site

The content has been re-organised in the menu bar to focus on the main “social” features of the site and to make the menus work better on mobile devices; you can search the site from the Search box that appears at the bottom of all screens.

All Menu bar items can be tailored to show different items for different users (eg David’s photos don’t appear under Memories, but the menu could be tailored so that just he would see a Menu bar item). If you want your own personal Menu item, just ask me to set it up for you and then use an existing Category (or create a new one) to display items of that Category in the Menu bar.

You are encouraged to add your own content (posts) to the blog and by default the blog is setup to use the new Gutenberg Block Editor which you can get to from here or the Footer area of any Blog post. I’ve provided a Help page to help you get started using the Editor, but it’s really quite straightforward.

I’ve created a Membership page with your usernames listed. You’re all registered as Authors. Over time other extended-family members can be added as Contributors – the first being Di, if you want to add anyone else please let me know.. Please don’t share the content of Posts from the site with non-members without their permission and sharing a link will just present someone with the Welcome/Login screen. [I am toying with idea of creating a Guest user so that individual posts could be shared whilst retaining full privacy for the rest of the site.]

I would also encourage you to Comment freely on any of the Posts on the site; remember this is a Private membership site, so don’t hold back.

I’m working on additional videos and documentation which will in time appear on this page. You can see my first attempt from this link, which also appears under the Help Menu bar item.

I am getting to terms with how BuddyPress works and will provide additional documentation under the Help bar item in due course. To start, here’s a video to introduce the Social features on the site. I will probably do more mini-videos on the different features of the Social features as I get confident in using them myself. The video’s not perfect pe by any means and the interface may change overtime; but it is an alternative to WhatsApp, and a genuine possible alternative to Google+ which was so good.

Elsewhere.

The page that held the video and eulogies for mum’s funeral is now here.

Now have a look at the most recent posts on the site.
